Field Extender allows users to define additional optional fields for transactions in Sage 300. You can create virtually unlimited number of fields of various data types including Rich Text and Electronic Attachments. Though the number and type of optional fields created is only limited by technical restrictions imposed by the Sage 300 data access layer, you can evade them by defining multiple records for the same purpose.
With support for Hyperlinks, Field Extender provides single click access to websites and external file servers from inside Sage 300.
Using Field Extender, you can now print YOUR own color Product Catalog in-house, with Images and Rich Text, direct from your Sage 300 inventory database. It's fast, easy and economical! In Field Extender versions 6.0E Product Update 2 through 2019E, the product is available in Pro and Lite editions. The Pro edition has the full functionality of Field Extender, while the Lite edition serves as a platform for the new SYSTRONICS product, Document Attachment Applets, and is distributed at no cost.
Starting with version 2020F, Field Extender Enterprise (aka Field Extender) is available in a single edition, and Document Attachment Applets are offered as a feature in Field Extender

How to have a single click access to websites and external file servers from inside Sage 300 |
Follow the steps described below to have a single click access to websites or external file servers from inside Sage 300. In our example below, we will show how to add a hyperlink for an optional field defined for the I/C Items screen.
1. First make sure you have an optional field with String type as shown below; you are allowed to define an optional field as a hyperlink only if its type is String.

2. Open the F/E Assign Fields screen and add the created optional field for I/C Items if not in the list already. Select the checkbox on the Hyperlink column as shown below and click Save.

3. Open the customized screen - in our example, I/C Items - and click Attachments button to open the F/E Optional Field Values screen. The newly created optional field will now be displayed in the grid of that screen with the caption shown in its Value field.

4. To enter the link information, click the displayed in the Value field. After entering a link on the Value field, the Description field becomes a hyperlink allowing to open the link by clicking on it.

The steps for having single click access to files located on external file servers from inside Sage 300 are the same; the only difference is that on the Value field you enter the UNC path of the file location.

Q. Does Field Extender support 3rd Party SDK applications?
A. Yes, Field Extender supports adding fields not only to Sage 300 applications, but also to 3rd party SDK applications.
Q. What is the difference between Field Extender Enterprise, and Field Extender Pro and Lite editions?
A. Field Extender versions from 6.0E Product Update 2 to 2019E are available in Pro and Lite editions. Both Pro and Lite editions offer identical features. However, the Lite edition can be used only with Document Attachment Applets.
In addition to Lite edition functionalities, the Pro edition allows users to create and work with their own customizations. Three Field Extender sample customizations with their source codes are offered on our website at no cost. The available package includes customizations for I/C Items, O/E Order Entry at header and detail level, and G/L Journal Entry at header and detail level. This is to help users to develop customizations for other transactions. Users can also subcontract developing such customizations to SYSTRONICS.
Starting from version 2020F, Field Extender is not available in Pro and Lite editions anymore. It is available as Field Extender Enterprise. With Field Extender Enterprise you do not need a screen customization executable file to open the F/E Optional Fields Values pop-up screen anymore. Instead, when you open the Sage 300 original screen, the F/E Optional Fields Values pop-up screen is opened automatically next to it. Moreover, in Field Extender Enterprise a new Screen Configuration screen has been added to Field Extender. It allows to define Sage 300 screens where F/E optional fields will be used and Sage 300 users who will access F/E optional fields in these screens.
Document Attachment Applets are not provided as separate executable files starting version 2020, but are provided as a feature in Field Extender Enterprise.

Q. Where does Field Extender store electronic Attachments?
A. Field Extender provides two options:
- Electronic Attachments can be stored in Sage 300 database or
- Electronic Attachments can be saved in the network as files, with Field Extender storing the hyperlink and providing single click access from inside Sage 300.
Q. Is it possible to print images in using Crystal Reports?
A. Yes. Images added as F/E attachments can be printed in Crystal Reports. You can either modify the existing Sage 300 forms or create new forms/reports for this purpose. There is a section in the FE User and Administrator guide (v.2017 and onwards) explaining how to add item images on the example of the O/E Invoice form OEINV04.
